Job Overview:

Dakota Precision Manufacturing is seeking a talented Design Engineer to join our dynamic, fast-paced Engineering team. We are looking for a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and can work efficiently to deliver high-quality results.

In this role, you will be responsible for designing and developing precision metal components and assemblies for industries such as automotive, aerospace, and heavy machinery. You will design and develop a variety of products that uphold our mission of quality, safety, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical design, CAD software, and manufacturing processes to create innovative and efficient product designs that meet customer specifications and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with process engineers, production teams, and customers to ensure designs are manufacturable and cost-effective.
  • Take in feedback to continuously learn + grow in your position
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives, identifying ways to enhance design efficiency, reduce costs, and improve production processes.
  • Develop and refine 3D models and technical drawings for precision metal components using CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar).
  • Conduct engineering analysis (stress, tolerance, and material selection) to optimize designs for performance and durability.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation of designs, specifications, and modifications in accordance with company and industry standards.
  • Troubleshoot design-related production issues and propose effective solutions.
  • Stay current with industry trends, materials, and manufacturing technologies to ensure innovative design practices.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in design engineering, preferably in precision manufacturing or metal fabrication.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar).
  • Experience with FEA (Finite Element Analysis) and simulation tools is a plus.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills to work cross-functionally with engineering, production, and sales teams.

Compensation and Benefits

This is a full-time, on-site position with an anticipated base salary of $70,000-90,000 per year, depending on knowledge, skills, education, and experience. In addition, we offer a performance-based variable pay component equivalent to 10% of the revenue generated from sales, rewarding your contributions and encouraging higher sales achievement.
