Position Overview:

Dakota Precision Manufacturing is seeking a dedicated and experienced Director of Safety to lead and enhance the company's safety initiatives. Reporting directly to the COO, the Safety Director will play a key role in fostering a culture of safety across all departments. This position is instrumental in ensuring compliance with safety regulations, reducing workplace hazards, and promoting employee well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and manage company-wide safety policies and procedures.
  • Conduct quarterly safety training sessions tailored to the specific needs of different teams and departments.
  • Stay informed of federal, state, and local safety laws and regulations to ensure company compliance.
  • Perform regular safety audits, identify potential risks, and recommend and implement corrective actions.
  • Investigate workplace accidents, determine root causes, and implement preventive measures.
  • Ensure all safety certifications are current, accurate, and in compliance with industry standards.
  • Maintain accurate safety records and submit all required documentation and reports in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with department heads to integrate safety practices into daily operations.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for safety inspections, external audits, and regulatory inquiries.
  • Lead initiatives to promote a proactive safety culture and drive continuous improvement in safety practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a safety management role, ideally within a manufacturing environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA standards, safety regulations, and best practices.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with proven experience in conducting engaging safety training sessions and conveying complex information in a clear, concise, and interesting manner.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams across departments, fostering a culture of safety and ensuring safety practices are integrated into daily operations.
  • Proficiency in safety management software and reporting tools.
  • Certification such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional) or equivalent is a plus.

This role requires the ability to create a positive work environment where safety is prioritized, and to lead training sessions that not only inform but also engage employees in meaningful ways.
